Danville Plantation Shutter Installation by Window-ology

If you haven't noticed, shutters are a popular product at Window-ology. They're also having a moment in California in general...what can we say? Californians are liking the clean lines and a sleek feel.

When it comes to shutters, the good thing is that they will accommodate pretty much any type of window. Skinny, arched, extremely wide, circular...whatever the shape, we can probably order a shutter that will fit.

We installed these Norman Window Fashions arched composite wood shutters at a home in Danville. Three went into bedrooms, and one (rectangular; the client wanted to keep the arch exposed) in the bathroom. When clients want shutters, we always recommend plantation shutters over real wood in places like the bathroom, kitchen, and other humid areas of your home. Real wood is prone to warping, but composite shutters will hold up perfectly. Save the real wood for highly-visible rooms, like the living or family room.

Installers Ed and Matt break down styrofoam, unpackaged shutters, and unload the Window-ology van in preparation for a shutter installation in Danville.

Installer Ed, on the right, unpackages a shutter panel from the plastic while Matt, left, prepares his nail gun.
Matt confers with Ed about screws as they fix a drapery rod and finial.
Ed kneels beside his red tool bag, with a mallet, caulking, sponge, and other odds and ends lay strewn on the carpet.
Installer Ed lays on the carpet in a bedroom as he supports the window sill. Installer Matt leans over with the nail gun to secure the sill.
Do whatever it takes to get the job done!
Matt and Ed take a shutter frame back outside to modify it before installing.
Ed saws off part of the shutter frame so that it will fit the bathroom tile where it is being installed. Sawdust flies in the air.
Window-ology installers always tidy up before they go. Matt vacuums the windowsill of debris.
The bathroom window shutter installation is complete, and now decorated with a leafy potted plant.
The bedroom shutter is installed and allows ample sunlight to enter the room.
The window shutter is installed and dark grey drapery panels complete the look, framing it on either side.
