How to Reprogram Somfy Remote: Set New Upper and Lower Limits on Motorized Shades

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

A question we often field is how to reprogram a Somfy remote for motorized shades. In this post and video, we walk you through the steps to set the new upper and lower limits of your motorized shades.

To set the new UPPER limit:

  1. Raise your shade to its current highest limit. You MUST do this to begin.

  2. Once your shade is fully raised, press the up and down arrows simultaneously until the motor jogs. Red lights may flash. You may need to press the buttons for a few seconds. This is ok.

  3. Once the motor jogs (a "jog" is a brief up-and-down motion), set the new upper limit of your shade by continuously pressing either the up or down arrow, depending on what direction you want to move the shade. A brief press of the button will inch the shade in either direction, and is better for making precise movements after you've moved the shade into general position.

  4. After you have moved the shade to your new desired upper limit, you need to confirm the setting. Do this by pressing and holding down on the "my" button - the round button between the arrows until the motor jogs. Again, lights may flash and you may need to wait a moment.

To set the new LOWER limit (basically the same instructions):

  1. Lower your shade to its current lowest limit. You MUST do this to begin.

  2. Once your shade is fully lowered, press the up and down arrows simultaneously until the motor jogs. Red lights may flash. You may need to press the buttons for a few seconds. This is ok.

  3. Once the motor jogs (a "jog" is a brief up-and-down motion), set the new lower limit of your shade by continuously pressing either the up or down arrow, depending on what direction you want to move the shade. A brief press of the button will inch the shade in either direction, and is better for making precise movements after you've moved the shade into general position.

  4. After you have moved the shade to your new desired lower limit, you need to confirm the setting. Do this by pressing and holding down on the "my" button - the round button between the arrows until the motor jogs. Again, lights may flash and you may need to wait a moment.

And there you go - how to change the upper and lower limit on your motorized shade with the Somfy remote.
